Kenya Ambassador praises remarkable progress in Qatar

Doha: Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to the State of Qatar, Partick Cornell Ahanda, praised the great progress in Qatar at all levels as the country has become geopolitical center not only in the Arabian Gulf and the Middle East but in the world at large with top world leaders heading to Doha either for peace negotiations or for reinforcing the social, political and economical cooperation, making Qatar a financial hub in the MENA region.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of Qatar National day, the Ambassador stated that Qatar has made good use of its natural resources to the extent of making Qatar a welfare state where its citizens are the direct beneficiaries of its resources visibly in terms of its magnificent infrastructure like superb and beautiful road networks, highly modern healthcare facilities and food security to excellent educational learning facilities and home to some ultra-modern world well known universities, beside expansive modern airport that is rapidly becoming world aviation hub, to the latest hi-tech metro system and ultramodern Sports Stadium in readiness for the World Cup 2022, in addition to the huge importance that Qatar gains via hosting the International conferences.

The Kenyan Ambassador hailed the bilateral relations between his country and the State of Qatar which reached the highest level, looking forward for more cooperation in different fields as a lot of bilateral memorandums of understanding were signed between the two sides, in addition to the exchange of high-level visits, most importantly are the visit of H E Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta to Doha and the visit of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Kenya earlier.

“In the same year 2019, Kenya requested and got full backing of Qatar for our candidature as a member of UN Security Council,” the Ambassador noted, pointing out that the relationship between Kenya and Qatar went at notch higher levels during the last few years, in turn Qatar Airways increased frequency flights into the capital city of Nairobi, another route to the second city of Mombasa was promptly opened.

He hailed the successful response of the State of Qatar in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, stating that the State of Qatar, due to the availability of state-of-the-art health facilities and expanded field hospitals, was able to contain the virus to a manageable level.
