Project Qatar 2018 has concluded opening new doors of opportunity for a number of local and foreign construction sector companies. The 15th edition of four-day international trade exhibition for construction technology, building materials, equipment, and environmental technology provided participating companies from China, Turkey, Iran, Germany, Pakistan and other countries a golden opportunity to explore and develop new business partnerships with Qatari counterparts.
During four-day trade event, around 400 pre-arranged business-to-business meetings between leading companies and visitors were held. Many of these meetings translated into mutually beneficial business deals.
The Qatar National Vision 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2022 are major growth drivers for Qatar’s construction industry. The Qatari construction sector is the fastest growing construction market in the Gulf region. The Qatar Government has earmarked as much as QR200bn to spend in 2018 for the construction of key projects in transport and infrastructure, healthcare, education, sporting facilities, water, and tourism.
Over 280 international exhibitors from 21 countries and 126 local companies participated in this international trade exhibition for construction technology, building materials, equipment and environmental technology sector.
Minister of Economy and Commerce H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani, at the inauguration of Project Qatar 2018, had rightly said that the huge participation of companies across the world in exhibitions such as Project Qatar, reflected the strength of Qatar’s economy.
“The state’s commitment to supporting the construction sector has contributed to positioning Qatar as one of the fastest growing markets in the region and the world,” he added.
“Project Qatar has turned into the perfect venue to meet, direct, and foster business relationship backed by solid support from the national government which seeks to turn the country into a world-class business hub in the region. Project Qatar 2018 was a major success as evidenced by an overwhelming participation from the regional and global industry stakeholders,” said Projects Director at IFP Qatar Haidar Mshaimesh.
He also said that Project Qatar 2018 played a key role in offering real opportunities for companies from around the world, enabling them to present their ventures to the visitors. “Participating top-notch manufacturers, distributors, and contractors, to cite a few, also engaged with local decision-makers and their counterparts through Project Qatar and we are happy to note of positive outcomes in these fruitful interactions.”
Project Qatar, for the first time, also hosted the Future Projects Qatar Conference, which kicked off with a panel discussion themed ‘Shaping the Future of Qatar’s Construction’.
