•     Several citizens complained about what they called inexperienced Asian workers who collect mushroom Fiqa and said the workers do not bother about the right time to collect it. Citizens also said workers sell the mushroom at a very high price, often a box costing QR1,500.
•     Many citizens demanded that authorities establish a special market for dates similar to Al Mazrouah and Al Khor yards, to promote the local product. They said local dates come in many varieties which are in demand but people are forced to buy those coming from neighbouring counties.
•     People continued to complain about the bad smell emanating from the animal market in Mesamier. They said rains leave poodles in surrounding areas and pose a threat to residents’ health, particularly respiratory problems in children.
•     Some people expressed surprise that the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning has not started any public park project in residential areas and said many open areas in Doha and other neighbourhoods can be used for parks.
•     There was talk about the Traffic Department’s decision to ban trucks, trailers and other heavy vehicles from parking in Doha from January 20. People said the decision will help stop random parking in different parts of the city.
•     People demanded that authorities swoop on illegal ‘markets’ in the Industrial Area, where low-income workers sell pornographic films, Sewayka, food items and medicines.
•     Many people demanded that more telecom companies be allowed to operate in the country to ensure better services at reasonable costs. They said lack of competition has led to poor services and exorbitant charges for calls and Internet services. They also said the telecom network should cover areas outside Doha where residential areas are expanding.
