J K Menon addressing the ‘Ascend Kerala-2020’ at Lulu International Convention Centre, in Bolgatti, Kochi.
Education and agriculture are areas on which the Southern Indian state Kerala can make developmental leaps in the coming decade, said prominent Doha-based businessman J.K. Menon. Attending a panel discussion on ‘Insights of Successful Entrepreneurs’ session organised by the Kerala government at the high-profile ‘Ascend Kerala-2020’ at Lulu International Convention Centre, Bolgatti, Kochi, Menon said education and agriculture are Kerala’s power reserves.
World-Class Institutes of Higher Education have to come up in Kerala. This will benefit Kerala in the investment as well. Job availability and skills will rise. Farmers should have the opportunity to market their produce in the global market. For this we need to set up agrarian groups and the best marketing platform.
Recollecting his personal memories J K Menon said: “When my dad, C.K Menon boarded the flight to Qatar in 1979, his earning was his self-confidence. He worked in a Pakistani Company for 1500 riyals. Soon, he built his own industrial empires. Today, the company is spread across 8 countries, employing more than 5000 people. Its of immense pride that 90 percent of those employed are from Kerala.”
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the event in Bolgatti.
