Ambassador of Turkey to Qatar H E Dr. Mustafa Goksu praised the stability of the Qatari economy and its great ability to confront crises in light of wise management of resources, the ability to deal with various variables and to exploit financial surpluses in an excellent way to secure the needs of citizens and deal seriously with challenges and requirements of the stage.
In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of National Day, His Excellency emphasized the clear spirit of brotherhood between Qatar and Turkey, the political consensus in many regional and global issues, and the increase in military cooperation.
The two countries have an opportunity for further economic integration, he added. Qatar is one of the most important players in the gas market in the world, and Turkey is a country that has a great capacity in many productive fields, especially agriculture, industry and services, the Ambassador said.

On the cultural side, Turkey established a Turkish school in Doha, as well as the Yunus Emre Institute being active in Doha, which focuses on teaching Turkish and spreading its culture at all levels, HE pointed out.
Qatari-Turkish relations, which officially began in 1979, with the opening of the two countries embassies in Doha and Ankara, are strong and solid at all levels, the envoy stressed, adding that the strength of those relations was increased by the establishment of the Joint Supreme Strategic Committee between Qatar and Turkey in 2014, which Doha hosted its first session in Dec. 2015.
Since the committee’s establishment, seven meetings, divided equally between the two countries, resulted in the conclusion of more than 80 agreements in various fields, he added. The envoy said that in the field of relations between leaders, it is enough to say that the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have held 28 summits since 2014, which is a record number in the history of relations between the two countries.
In addition, the volume of trade exchange grew by more than 100 percent from 2016 to 2020, bringing the value of trade exchange between the two countries to USD 1.91 billion in 2020 compared to about USD 900 million in 2016, HE Ambassador said.
More than 711 Turkish companies are operating in Qatar, including about 664 companies with Qatari and Turkish capital, 47 companies with 100 percent Turkish capital, and 15 Turkish companies in the free zone, in addition to more than 183 Qatari companies operating in Turkey. Qatar also hosts the Expo Turkey in Qatar annually with the participation of hundreds of Turkish companies wishing to work in the Qatari market, he added.
