Doha: Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar  H E Nathapol Khantahiran has said that Qatar has a strong foundation of politics, economic and social development.

In a statement to QNA, H E the Ambassador said that Qatar has come a long way in realising and achieving its National Vision 2030. This year, significant progress, especially in the fields of healthcare, education, human development and infrastructure advancements, have been made despite global setbacks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Against the backdrop of global challenges caused by the pandemic, Qatar is also on its path toward sustainable economic development and diversification, as well as making great strides in advancing many strategic projects to support the hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. In this regard, Thailand lauds Qatar for its fast-paced development and always supports Qatar in achieving the countrys National Vision and the hosting of the FIFA World Cup in 2022,” he said.

Nonetheless, Qatar’s humanitarian assistance to the world as well as development funds for those in need reiterate Qatar’s most distinguished role, which helps contribute to world peace and poverty eradication efforts, he added.

The Ambassador commended the labour reforms in the State saying: “This year, we also witnessed bold steps taken by the Government of Qatar in achieving labour reforms which benefit vast majority of migrant workers residing in the country including those from Thailand”.

On tackling the COVID-19 outbreak, the Ambassador said that Thailand has witnessed Qatar’s high resilience and fast adaptation in its healthcare system, along with timely effort in containing the spread of the pandemic, saying: “While the world is experiencing difficult times in struggling over COVID-19 and its implications, Qatar has proven itself as having a strong foundation of politics, economic and social development.”

Such efficiency has allowed Qatar to maintain its COVID-19 fatality rate among the lowest worldwide, enabling the country to extend its humanitarian assistance to countries in need despite transportation obstacles, and, most significantly, ensure the universal public healthcare coverage that exclude none, under the leadership of the Government of State of Qatar,” he added.

In tandem with the public health measures, Qatar also excels at its economic relief measures and has made significant reforms on labour market, His Excellency said adding that these factors have fuelled Qatar to mitigate impacts felt in all sectors and various nationalities and, most admirably on the welfare protection of migrant workers, including the Thai community.
