Entering into adulthood is risky. It requires courage, strength, and stability, not easy to achieve, as it is fate that determines the future. It needs a strong will to endure pain and have real patience.
This applies to our precious country, Qatar, that refused to be on the sidelines of life, but resolved, thanks to its leadership and confidence in its capabilities, to stand out as an impressive state in all fields, which is not an easy mission to achieve.
We also see that there are many schemes and plots against it. However, Qatar works very hard to thwart these plans and therefore needs the support of its citizens to face the difficulties and achieve the desired mission.
All of us, no matter what we do, must watch out for any thing that may reflect negatively on our state and its ambitions. Every one of us is responsible for accomplishing this duty, as success needs a lot of sincere and cautious work.
Perhaps the clearest proof of that is the 2022 World Cup. This World Cup was sought by Qatar that managed to take it away from the jaws and claws of large and powerful countries.
Some of the parties have been trying to discredit our country globally in order to destroy this achievement. The most important of those files is employment. Qatari organisers of the World Cup did all they could to rise against the false accusations levelled against Qatar. They have succeeded in doing so in principle.
However, there are hidden hands still trying to undermine this achievement. The bottom line is that we need to pay attention to these matters and not react hastily, but anticipate the events by having preventive measures
in mind.
It is true that the global picture of Qatar is important, but what is more important is our true image. The issue is not about the state of workers that the French media covered and the large banquet that was spread for the municipal employees, but the important question is: Did these workers receive their rights or not?
Did the Department of Labour conduct a questionnaire and meet with workers to understand their problems? Did it pay a visit to their homes as a regulatory measure and see how they live?
Did it make sure that the workers have a guarantee, and a doctor or health centre to visit?
Did the Labour Department observe their wages closely and study the overtime procedure?
Did the Department make sure that they all have contracts?
If we thought that the matter is over, it is not. Still there are embers under the ashes that may ignite at any moment. I would say there is no room for contempt as the road is still long.
It is the responsibility of the private and public sectors and the organising committee to be aware of every detail.
May Allah support its members in undertaking their responsibilities!
I remember that our country’s reputation is on the line and it is everybody’s responsibility to defend it. Success needs a lot of careful and sincere work.
