Return to normalcy

After long time of living under medical restrictions imposed to address COVID-19 pandemic, Qatar has almost returned to normalcy with further easing of rules on Ehteraz and tests for travellers.

All this happened due to continuous efforts of the Ministry of Public Health and other state institutions which fought the battle against the global outbreak with tremendous success which was also recognised by the world organisations at numerous occasions.

The Cabinet has eased COVID-19 rules related to Ehteraz app. Under the new rules, effective from Tuesday, November 1, green health status on Ehteraz app will be required to entre health facilities only.

The Cabinet decided to amend its decision issued in its regular meeting (19) for 2022 convened on 18/5/2022 regarding requiring all citizens, residents, and visitors to activate the Ehteraz app on their smartphones when leaving the house for any reason and checking of the green symbol in the application when entering public or closed places. Activating the app and checking the green symbol will be required when entering health facilities only. All citizens, residents, and visitors are also required to use face masks at health facilities.

All employees and workers whose jobs require being in closed offices and communicating with clients must wear face masks during their work hours.

Meanwhile the MoPH has also announced that with the number of COVID-19 cases continuing to fall worldwide and in Qatar, and the ongoing roll-out of Qatar’s National COVID-19 Vaccination Program, a set of updates will be applied to the measures in place to confront COVID-19.

Citizens and residents of Qatar are no longer required to take a rapid antigen test or a PCR test within 24 hours of arriving in Qatar. Visitors are no longer required to present a negative COVID-19 PCR or rapid antigen test result before travelling to Qatar.

Dr. Yousef Al Maslamani, Medical Director of Hamad General Hospital, said the cancellation of all travel examinations is due to the public cooperation with the MoPH which led to the decrease in the number of cases and deaths.

“Those infected with COVID-19 will be isolated for a total of ten days at home or in the hotel for travellers, in two parts — five days of complete hotel isolation, and five days after which we will allow the infected to leave, but with a condition that they must wear mask when having contact with others but free to remove the mask when alone,” he added.
