All preparations have been made by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and all the public, private schools and kindergartens to welcome students as classes resume after long summer break tomorrow. The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has finalised all preparations to receive about 132,000 students in public schools in new academic year 2023-24 while over 334 private schools will welcome around 230,000 students.
Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi recently launched an annual educational assembly featuring a diverse array of training programmes for school leadership and academic and administrative personnel. The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) reviewed preparations for the academic year 2023/2024 with the principals of private schools and kindergartens.
Assistant Undersecretary for Private Education Affairs at MoEHE Omar Al Naama held several online meetings with 355 principals of private schools and kindergartens. Al Naama expressed his gratitude for the efforts made during the past academic year and hoped that the momentum of providing a motivating educational environment would continue. The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), in cooperation with Mowasalat (Karwa), also launched on Thursday its back-to-school campaign under the theme ‘My School is My Second Home’. The campaign is being held at Mall of Qatar from August 24-29
The campaign offers programmes and various recreational activities that prepare students for the learning environments in schools. MoEHE’s Director of Public Relations and Communication Department, Maryam Abdullah Al Mohannadi, said the campaign aims to prepare students, especially those in the primary and early childhood stages, for the new academic year, through a variety of educational and purposeful activities.
Al Mohannadi highlighted the campaign’s small media activity, a mental activity based on asking various questions in different subjects to retrieve essential information and prepare children and mentally activating them to return to learning with their classmates. Director of Karwa Academy, Faisal Al Nuaimi said that both sides organise this campaign ahead of each new academic year, adding that school bus drivers were trained on school bus loading and unloading as well as building proper relations with children, school administration and bus supervisors. Al Nuaimi added that thousands of school buses carry a total of 60,000 students daily.
The Ministry of Public Health has also started a back-to-school awareness campaign aimed at encouraging students to follow healthy habits which will help to improve academic performances as well. The campaign highlights importance of students adopting healthy eating, sleeping habits and choosing an appropriate school bag.
