Summer camps a boon for students

With the start of summer vacations, many schools and entities in Qatar offer various activities for children at summer camps to keep them engaged in healthy activities. The activities are designed to enhance the participants’ physical, social, and cognitive skills, promote teamwork and provide an alternative to screen time.

The camps aim to utilise their vacation to develop their personal and leadership skills and seek to instil in them national identity, social responsibility, and foster creative thinking and innovation, besides enhancing their physical and mental health. The programmes at camps are designed to suit different age groups, include sports and arts activities, cultural workshops, and volunteering initiatives.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education recently concluded the 2025 Student Activities Summer Camps, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and a number of government agencies, educational, cultural, and community institutions.

The camps ran from July 6 to August 7, at eight summer centres in public schools, with the participation of more than 1,800 male and female students of various age groups. This year’s summer camps offered more than 550 diverse activities. The current edition also featured active participation from parents.

The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) also concluded its annual campaign, during which it delivered a training programme targeting summer centres for Qatari and expatriate students in public schools. The objective of the training programme was to enhance students’ understanding of their rights and duties.  Teaching the principles of human rights equips students to protect themselves and others from violations, thereby contributing to the building of a better, fairer, and more respectful society.

The annual camp at Education City, organised by Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Pre-University Education, offered young learners the chance to develop their skills in areas ranging from sports and computing to business and leadership. Visit Qatar launched Qatar Toy Festival first Summer Camp. Dubbed ‘QTF Summer Camp’, a specially designed programme for children and teens took place at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC) from July 6 to August 4.

Meanwhile, Qatar National Library (QNL) continues to welcome children and young adults with a vibrant lineup of activities, with the Summer Camp initiative. Running from August 1 to 29, the Summer Camp offers 14 engaging sessions tailored to different age groups and available in both Arabic and English. These interactive events aim to spark imagination and foster a love of reading.
