The strong relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Poland is dated back to 1971, when Poland supported the right of the Qatari people to determine their fate and gain their full independence and take country’s place among the independent nations enjoying full membership in the United Nations. The relationship of the two countries witnessed a continuous development since 1989, and was strengthened by exchanging diplomatic visits, friendship and cooperation in various fields, where the two sides hold regular political consultations at the level of foreign ministers since 2014.
The official visit of President of the Republic of Poland H E Andrzej Duda which concluded yesterday falls within the framework of the sincere desire of the leaderships of the two countries to strengthen and enhance these historical ties and expand areas of cooperation.  President Duda stressed his keenness to develop and strengthen the Qatari-Polish relations, looking forward that his visit would contribute to achieving the two friendly people’s aspirations in flourishing cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
President Duda called during the Qatar-Poland Economic Roundtable yesterday on Qatari businessmen to invest in his country and learn more about Poland investment climate, noting the key role played by the Qatari-Polish Business Council which was formed in 2020 in promoting relations between both parties. Cooperation between Doha and Warsaw covers various fields, especially the economic, cultural, health and military fields and regulated by a set of agreements that include visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and special passports, cooperation in the economic, tourism and cultural fields, medical sciences, health care, military training, air transport and the avoidance of double taxation.
Poland imports a third of its liquefied natural gas needs from Qatar, which has become the largest supplier of natural gas to Poland since the agreement of 2017, amounting the volume of Qatari exports to Poland to about $750.1m.  There are many Polish companies operating in Qatar in partnerships with Qatari partners in various sectors such as contracting, designing, technical services, health, and consultation. Poland has become one of the attractive destinations for Qatari investments, as there are many Qatari investments in Poland in various sectors including hospitality and industry.
The sincere desire and political will of the leaderships of the two countries has made bilateral ties witness a qualitative leap in all fields and working to develop and transfer them to the level of strategic partnership.
