Qatar under its human development vision is giving much importance to country’s youth through a number of educational, research and sports initiatives. They are being provided with world-class educational facilities and also a highly favourable environment has been developed in the State that helps them excel in fields of science and technology.

Due to State’s continuous support, in all forms, Qatari youth are proving their mettle in world community from sports to science and innovation.

Today the draft of National Youth Policy is set to be revealed during ongoing Najah Qatari Forum. The draft confirms the commitment of the State of Qatar to youth issues. The document will be a declaration of a common national vision that defines the needs and priorities of youth and provides a basis for equitably distributing the necessary resources to meet these needs according to a realistic and significant approach of involving young people in decision-making processes.

It is to be noted here that that the State of Qatar made progress in the Youth Development Index 2020, ranking second in the Arab world and 32nd globally.

The Youth Development Index is issued by The Commonwealth Association and measures the status of young people in 181 countries around the world. The State of Qatar achieved a great progress in the index, advancing 43 places at the global level and two levels at the Arab level.

Ministry of Sports and Youth (MSY), Youth Center Licenses Researcher, Ahmad Al Ansari, has said that the Ministry will present the Youth Policy draft to the public and have a discussion. “We worked on the draft for one-and a-half-years and we also conducted a survey among 5,000 people on which topics should be focused on.”

Al Ansari also explained that under the said draft, they focused on seven main areas which include training, business, health and the environment, among others. Al Ansari is hopeful that the law will be enacted after a month. “Once it becomes a law, Qatar will be the seventh Middle Eastern country to have this policy, next to Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria,” he said.

The Ministry said the youth policy is aimed to guide state officials to the orientations of young people, identify the priorities that the state considers in youth issues, and confirm the integration of young people in achieving development, and their readiness for this.
