Qatar yet again added a feather in its cap of successes, this time for the quality of life the people of the country enjoy. For the second straight year, Qatar ranked first among Arab countries in the assessment index of life of citizens. The survey result was released by the Kuwait-based think-tank CSRGulf. The current study took 15 indicators and sub-indicators into consideration, such as response to the COVID-19 pandemic, measuring the threat index provided by the Global Peace Index, climate threat, pollution, human development, education, the efficiency of distance education, social integration, social progress, freedom, democracy, crime and anti-corruptions efforts and unemployment.
The progress Qatar has made in these indicators has been significantly tangible for the past few years, especially in the field of education, human development, social progress and most importantly peace and fight against crime and corruption.
Over the last two years, governments across the world have been faced with a seemingly insurmountable challenge in the form of Coronavirus pandemic which has taken its toll on tens of thousands of people, disrupted normal living, extended immeasurable blow to business and economy, overwhelmed health care systems, denied students the right to normal education etc.
The pandemic didn’t spare Qatar too, but the country was prepared well in advance to address the challenge and mitigate the damage it could cause and today Qatar stands tall among a very few countries who successfully managed the situation with well thought-out plans, efficient treatment and precautionary measures extended by professionals, saving thousands of lives, thus logging a very low number of deaths.
Qatar can boast of providing the best-possible treatment to everybody affected by the pandemic free of cost irrespective of citizens or residents. The normal life of the people has never been disrupted even and the country was among the first few to bring in the new vaccines and nearly 87 percent of the eligible population is fully vaccinated now. Qatar Airways not only didn’t stop flying for a single day, but has been carrying essential medical supplies and relief materials to every corner of the world in addition to flying stranded people home from across the globe.
The country’s track record in education and development has been marked with world-class education facilities and universities continuously scoring top notches in global rankings. People in the country are highly satisfied with the peaceful and harmonious environment they have been enjoying for decades with social security and political stability.
