Ahmedabad: Holders Gujarat Titans beat Chennai Super Kings by five wickets in the opening match of the Indian Premier League in front of more than 100,000 spectators in Ahmedabad on Friday.
Gujarat kept Chennai to 178-7 despite Ruturaj Gaikwad's 92 and then Shubman Gill made 63 to help chase down the target with four balls to spare at the world's biggest cricket stadium with an official capacity of 132,000 people.
The record for the largest crowd in a T20 match was recorded last year when 101,566 people witnessed Gujarat lift the title at the same venue.
