Doha: The Ministry of Justice’s Legal and Judicial Studies Centre yesterday organised a panel discussion on the legal qualification of judicial police officers in law enforcement. It was held  in cooperation with the Police Institute at the Ministry of Interior and the Institute of Criminal Studies at the Public Prosecution.

Minister of Justice H E Masoud bin Mohammed Al Ameri stressed that the panel discussion reviews a basic pillar of the justice that all legal and judicial authorities in the country seek to establish, and in implementation of the law that the government of the State of Qatar pays special attention to.

He noted that the jurisdiction of the judicial officer is considered the main pillar in the legal procedure for the work of the employee who obtains the status of a judicial officer in relation to the crimes that fall within their jurisdiction and related to the work of their job after a decision is issued by the Attorney General, in agreement with the competent minister.

The Minister expressed confidence that the panel discussion would come up with recommendations to address the aspirations of the competent authorities, and addressing any shortcomings in the judicial police work, enabling them to achieve their goals of achieving justice. This is to keep pace with the QNV2030 in its guiding principles, which stipulate the preservation of public and personal freedoms, and ensuring security and stability.

Acting Director of the Centre for Legal and Judicial Studies at the Ministry of Justice Nada Jassim Al Abduljabbar, who is also in charge of the duties of the Director of the centre, reviewed the role of the centre in preparing qualified legal cadres to work in the field of the judiciary and the Public Prosecution, as well as lawyers under training and judicial officers. She pointed to the cooperation between the Ministry of Justice, the Public Prosecution and the Ministry of Interior in the field of legal qualification of judicial officers, which resulted in the joint organisation of the important panel discussion.

Director of the Institute of Criminal Studies at the Public Prosecution Hadi Misfir Al Hajri stressed the importance of the legal qualification of judicial officers in law enforcement, referring to the role of the Public Prosecution in the legal qualification of judicial officers through the qualification courses implemented by the Institute of Criminal Studies at the Public Prosecution.
