All gloves are off in the bitter word war between the camps of President Aquino and Vice President Jejomar Binay ever since the latter resigned from the Cabinet.
On Monday, Malacañang hit back at Binay for peddling lies against the President and even challenged the Vice President to face the corruption allegations hurled against him.
Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda, however, said they are unfazed by Binay’s attacks against the President and even challenged the Vice President to “bring it on.”
“He continues to attack the President because he refuses to answer convincingly all allegations of corruption and ill gotten wealth against him. We have yet to hear a response other than ‘pulitika lang yan,’” Lacierda said in a text message to reporters.
“So we say to his camp in dishing out lies against the president – ‘Bring it on,’” he added.
Lacierda also criticized Binay for claiming there was “bad governance” by the Aquino government even though he served in the Cabinet in the last five years.
“On bad governance, he was with us for almost 5 years, where were his proposed solutions as a Cabinet member?” he asked.
Lacierda then went to quote Binary’s own words praising the Presidnet’s reform agenda while he was still in the Cabinet.
“Bad governance? Let me quote you the exact words from his own mouth: ‘We also need to acknowledge the positive impact of the reforms initiated by president Aquino. These reforms triggered renewed interest in the Philippines and a re-appraisal of our economic potential. We therefore make our commitment to continue and, if needed, expand the reforms initiated by president Aquino beyond 2016,’” Lacierda said.
“So, who continues to tell lies? The Vice President then or the Vice President now?” he added.
He also disputed the allegations made by the Binay camp that the administration was seeking the removal of the appointees associated with the Vice President.
