Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) will implement a temporary diversion on part of Lijmiliya Road, running about 3km in both directions.
The closure starts on Sunday and lasts six months. Traffic will be diverted to a new temporary road adjacent to the closed road, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Traffic.
The diversion is required to allow for the upgrade of the existing road and the construction of a new dual carriageway with two lanes in each direction. The new road which is part of Lijmiliya, Leatooriya and Al Sheehaniya Expressway project, will provide permanent features, including a median island  and pedestrian and cyclist pathways.
The Lijmiliya, Leatooriya and Al Sheehaniya project is part of the Expressway Programme, and aims to enhance traffic capacity and road safety in the area. It includes works to develop the area’s infrastructure, and install intelligent transport systems and a comprehensive drainage system.
Ashghal will install signs advising motorists about the diversion. It urges road users to abide by speed limits and follow signs for their safety. The Peninsula
