New Delhi: 200,000 public toilets for women, new courts to fast-track rape cases and Wi-Fi connected CCTV cameras were some of the promises made by the AAP yesterday in the second round of its ‘Delhi Dialogue’ programme which focused on women.
Addressing a gathering of over 500 women at Talkatora Garden in the heart of the capital, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal also promised that women would be allowed to pass a resolution to close down liquor vends in their areas.
“Forty-seven fast-track courts would be built and made functional and later increased up to 100,” said an AAP source.
The former chief minister also said every DTC bus would have a marshal to stop harassment of women.
In its 10-point agenda for women, which the AAP promised to implement if voted to power, figured the Women’s Security Force to be formed by utilising Delhi’s 12,000-strong New Delhi Home Guards and Civil Defence Force.IANS
