Doha, Qatar: The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre, Aman, one of the centres of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work took part in the activities of the 54th conference held by the International Organization for the Empowerment of Women and Capacity Building in Kuwait, under the theme “Social Work in the Arab World: Reality and Ambition.”
The conference was organised in cooperation with the Regional Network for Social Responsibility, the National Association for Combating Community Violence in Kuwait, and the Kuwait Association for Social Work.
A delegation from Aman Centre participated in the conference, represented by Dr. Maryam Al-Maliki, Social Adviser at Aman, who presented a working paper on rapid response to crises and disasters. She highlighted Qatar’s experience in the field of social work and the mechanisms used to provide social protection, as well as the role of Aman Center and the key services it provides to its target groups, including women, children, and victims of family violence and disintegration.
Al-Maliki affirmed Qatar’s commitment to supporting social work, noting that civil society organizations in Qatar provide social protection for all beneficiaries, including women, children, and every individual in society. She emphasized that human resources are a top priority, which is also highlighted in the Third National Development Strategy aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030.
She also shed light on Qatar’s experience through the Aman, as one of the entities operating under the umbrella of the Qatar Social Work Foundation. Al-Maliki presented the methods used to ensure social protection, the programs developed to support targeted groups, prevention mechanisms, and the procedures and programs adopted to halt violence and address cases at risk.
