Minister of Sports: ‘Police Officers of Tomorrow’ a pioneering programme

Doha, Qatar: Minister of Sports and Youth H E Salah bin Ghanim Al Ali praised the Police Officers of Tomorrow programme, organised by the Police Academy and those in charge of it, considering it a pioneering programme and an initiative that integrates with various initiatives and strategies concerned with youth and in line with the goals, objectives and directions of Qatar National Vision 2030.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the graduation ceremony of the third group of the programme yesterday, His Excellency stressed the importance of this programme in refining a child’s personality, enhancing his physical and mental capabilities, developing his leadership skills, building a culture of citizenship, belonging and patriotism, and establishing the moral values in line with the Islamic religion and Qatari culture, which leads to building an integrated personality capable of creativity and giving in the future.

He added that such initiatives are integrated with the various policies and strategies concerned with youth, including the Qatar National Youth Policy, which was recently launched by the Ministry of Sports and Youth, based on the ministry’s vision of creating active and responsible youth with a sense of patriotism, and a community practicing sports and participating in sustainable development.

The Minister of Sports and Youth stressed that caring for young people is the starting point and the basis for efforts to develop the capabilities of our youth as an influential force in achieving the requirements of the present and the goals of the aspired future, appreciating all the efforts made by the various bodies concerned with youth in order to achieve goals and aspirations in the fields of construction and development.

The Police Academy yesterday celebrated the graduation of the third group of the 4th edition (Summer 2023) of the programme of “Police Officers of Tomorrow” cadets in the presence of HE Minister of Sports and Youth Salah bin Ghanim Al Ali, alongside a number of the Academy leaders and officers.

The third group of the graduates included 400 cadets who received a variety of skillful trainings for two weeks, in addition to cultural, religious and awareness activities within the programme.

The graduation ceremony was punctuated by a wide range of skillful shows presented by the programme’s graduates which demonstrated the level of the advanced training, such as self-defence skills, handling some security situations by police, capturing and controlling fugitives, marksmanship and skills of using rifle, as well as some military, sports and cultural shows.

Commenting on this occasion, chairman of the committee of “Police Officers of Tomorrow” programme Capt. Hamad Khaled Al Mannai said the programme primarily consolidates the concept of societal partnership undertaken by the college in lockstep with all state institutions for the proper upbringing of sons of the homeland.

He outlined that the programme attracts the ages of 9 and 11, adding that the programmes idea is based on investing in leisure times during summer vocations to promote values of patriotism, develop leadership skills and self-confidence of young people and instill religious and national values in their hearts.

The programme cooperates with the National Cyber Security Agency and the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, especially in cultural and awareness aspects, Al Mannai pointed out, adding that the programme also collaborates with Shafallah Center, Orphans Care Center (Dreama) and Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (AMAN) to further promote societal engagement.

Captain Al Mannai outlined that the programme was punctuated by field trips to many entities such as Rescue Police Department (Al Fazaa), Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security, General Directorate of Civil Defence and National Command Center (NCC).

The academy graduated the first and second groups of the programme of “Police Officers of Tomorrow” 2023 on July 12 and 13.
