Nyon: The draw for the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League was held on Friday at the UEFA headquarters in the Swiss city of Nyon, producing several high-profile matchups among Europe's elite clubs in a stage expected to witness open tactical and physical battles.
The draw pitted defending champions Paris Saint-Germain against English side Chelsea in a highly anticipated showdown that will serve as an early test of both teams' continental ambitions.
Record 15-time champions Real Madrid were drawn against Manchester City in one of the marquee ties of the round.
Elsewhere, Atalanta will face Bayern Munich, while Bayer Leverkusen take on English opponents Arsenal.
Turkish side Galatasaray meet Liverpool, while Atletico Madrid face Tottenham Hotspur in a tactically intriguing encounter. Newcastle United were drawn against Barcelona, and Bodo/Glimt will play Sporting CP.
The first-leg matches are scheduled for March 10 and 11, with the return legs set for March 17 and 18, as teams battle for places in the quarter-finals of Europe's premier club competition.
