Doha: Indian expatriate kids in Qatar with talent in football have been given a big boost in the pursuit of their professional dreams, after being promised of trials with top Indian clubs.
Head coach of the Kerala state Santosh Trophy team and the technical director of I-League club Gokulam Kerala FC Bino George said this during his recent visit to Doha.
After a playing career, George took to coaching and became the first in India to receive the AFC Pro coaching license.
Speaking to budding young footballers of the Absolute Sports Academy, George said: "All clubs in India need youth teams from U-13 level. This is compulsory. The Indian national team for these categories is selected after picking players from each age-group league."
George added that he had spoken to the Absolute Sports Academy officials, and he would help bring opportunities to these kids in Qatar. "The best players among you may sign for Gokulam Kerala or Kerala Blasters."
During his visit to the Absolute campus, George interacted with the academy kids, coaches and officials and gave tips on how to move forward in their footballing career. With a ton of experience in his CV, George's wise words had a great effect on his listeners.
In a short ceremony that followed, George was felicitated by Safeer Rahman, Indian Sports Centre's Head of Football and Khaleel Pareed from Qatar Indian Association for Sports & Games.
The ceremony was also attended by ISC Vice-president EP Abdulrahman, in addition to Habib Nabi, ISC General Secretary and Absolute Sports Academy officials.
