Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Transport has joined the international community celebrating the Day of the Seafarer 2026, through a special event recognizing and appreciating the seafarers and those working in the maritime industry.
On this occasion, the MoT honoured a number of national talents and professionals working in maritime, in recognition of their dedicated efforts, valuable contributions, and services.
For MoT’s Assistant Undersecretary for Maritime Transport Affairs Abdulaziz Abdullah Al-Sulaiti, the day is an important occasion that MoT observers annually to celebrate the seafarers alongside international maritime authorities and organizations out of its care for the wellbeing and safety of seafarers and mariners. “It is an expression of how grateful we are for their contributions, efforts, and sacrifices, and an occasion to bring to everyone’s attention the challenges and risks they encounter while performing their professional duties to ensure a smooth flow and safety of global trade.”
The MoT continues developing the maritime industry to the best universal standards and practices to further enhance Qatar’s profile as a leading maritime hub, he said.
The MoT is also committed to developing and upskilling more human resources in maritime and logistics industries and empowering more national talents, he noted.
