Doha, Qatar: The Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in the State of Qatar has successfully hosted the Uganda Tourism and Cultural Expo 2025, a high-profile event aimed at promoting Uganda’s rich tourism offerings and diverse cultural heritage to the Qatari market.

Held at the prestigious Pullman Hotel in Doha, the Expo brought together over 200 participants including Qatari travel agents, tourism investors, government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, the Ugandan diaspora in Qatar, cultural performers, and representatives from Uganda’s travel and tourism sector.

The event was officiated by Ambassador H E Elly Kamahungye, the Guest of Honor and Representative of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uganda. In his keynote address, Ambassador Kamahungye emphasized Uganda’s readiness to engage the Qatari travel trade and highlighted tourism as a strategic pillar of Uganda’s economic development.

The Head of Mission, Ambassador Stephen Chebrot, welcomed guests with a passionate call to action, urging partners in Qatar to explore Uganda as a premier destination for adventure, cultural, eco, and faith-based tourism. He reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to strengthening tourism cooperation and building people-to-people linkages between Uganda and Qatar.

The Expo featured a powerful cultural showcase, live Ugandan dance and music performances, and a dedicated tourism presentation spotlighting Uganda’s iconic attractions—from gorilla trekking in Bwindi and white-water rafting on the Nile to the spiritual trail of the Uganda Martyrs.

A key highlight of the evening was the Business-to-Business (B2B) round-robin networking session, where 23 Ugandan Destination Management Companies (DMCs) held face-to-face meetings with more than 50 Qatari travel agents and tour operators. This provided a platform for direct engagement, product pitching, and fostering long-term collaborations in the outbound travel sector.
