Doha: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs reported strong participation in the 30th edition of Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Quran Competition for the year 1447 AH / 2025. As of Wednesday, 1,360 participants registered across both competition categories for males and females.
According to the ministry's statement, 834 participants have enrolled in the Full Quran category, which includes three subcategories, while 526 participants registered in the Sections category, covering parts 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25, either from the beginning or end of the Quran.
Registration remains open until October 28 through the competition's official website or by scanning the event's QR code. The Full Quran category is open to both citizens and residents, while the Sections category is reserved for Qatari nationals, male and female.
In the Full Quran category, participants are divided as follows: 573 residents in General Hafiz category, 242 residents in the Specialized Hafiz category, and 19 Qatari citizens across both genders.
The competition exams for both categories will commence on Saturday, November 8. Male participants will be tested at Imam Mohammed bin Abdulwahab Mosque, while female participants will sit their exams at the Women's Activity Center in Al Waab. The organizing committee will announce a detailed schedule of the exams later.
Prizes are substantial: first-place winners in the Full Quran category, for both citizens and residents, will receive QAR 100,000, for both males and females. Second place earns QAR 85,000, third place QAR 70,000, fourth place QAR 60,000, and fifth place QAR 50,000. Additional cash prizes will be awarded to participants who pass the second stage but do not advance to the third stage, as well as to those with distinguished recitation.
In the Sections category, financial awards are allocated to winners according to their ranking within each part, alongside prizes for participants with outstanding voice quality and exceptional performance.
The competition's registration opened on October 18 for both the Full Quran category for citizens and residents, and the Sections category for Qatari nationals, male and female.
