Compass International School Doha has a collaboration with Unicef and their students are actively helping towards the Unicef Global Goals of Sustainable Communities, Climate Action and Life Below Water.
The students at Compass International School Doha have been learning about the impact of plastic on the environment and Qatar’s local beaches, said a statement. The school has a successful Eco Warriors group, led by school students, to generate ideas to help the environment.
Jose Saucedo, Founder of Doha Environmental Actions Project, came and spoke about what his group of volunteers do in Qatar and the dangers facing Qatar’s environment if things don’t change.
Following the assembly with Saucedo, the school took the initiative to make a difference and joined a beach clean up at Purple Island. Over 150 Compass International School Doha community of students, staff and parents, took part in the beach clean up on a windy day at Purple Island.
Resulting in 1500kg of trash collected which equated to a huge 123 bags of trash.
Compass International School Doha students are now much more aware of the impact of plastic on the environment and will be making changes at home and in school to reduce their impact. As a Nord Anglia Education school, Compass International School Doha collaborates with Unicef to empower its children to change the world. Through our collaboration with Unicef, students research, develop and debate solutions to challenges facing society.
