Qatar participates in meeting of GCC Standing Committee of Experts in Islamic Affairs, Awqaf

Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs is taking part in the 37th meeting of the Standing Committee of Experts in Islamic Affairs and Awqaf for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on May 20–21, 2025.

In parallel, the Ministry’s delegation is also participating in the 12th meeting of the Committee on Promoting the True Image of Islam and Addressing Campaigns of Hatred, Intolerance, Extremism, and Sectarianism.

The Qatari delegation is headed by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs H E Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani, accompanied by a number of senior officials and directors of relevant departments within the Ministry. The meetings, hosted at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh, will focus on a range of working papers, research presentations, and collaborative proposals submitted by member states. Topics on the agenda include exchange of scientific research and best practices in the field of Islamic endowments (via interactive seminars), presentation of national experiences in Islamic affairs and GCC Endowment Week initiative.

In addition, Kuwait has submitted several proposals, including “Standards and Guidelines for Imams to Succeed in Their Social Roles”, “Intellectual Security Charter for Mosque Imams and Monitoring Indicators”, and A paper on “The Philosophy of Attracting Positive Energy”.

From Saudi Arabia, proposals include “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Enhancing Islamic Affairs,” and “Technical Guidelines for the Construction and Development of Mosques.”
