Doha, Qatar: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani would start a tour tomorrow (Tuesday), visiting Rusia and the UK, as part of a tour carried out by a number of foreign ministers of fraternal countries to a number of permanent members of the UN Security Council to push for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari said the tour comes in implementation of the mandate decision issued by the extraordinary joint Islamic-Arab summit in Riyadh on November 11 to formulate international action to stop the war raging in Gaza.
Dr. Al Ansari said this initiative, which is undertaken on behalf of all member states of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, aims to reach an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, exert pressure to launch a serious and genuine political process to achieve a lasting and comprehensive peace in accordance with established international references, and to take deterrent measures to stop the crimes of the colonial occupation authorities against humanity, while ensuring urgent relief corridors to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe.
He said that besides the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Arab-Islamic initiative would see the participation of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan, along with Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Palestine, Turkiye, Indonesia, Nigeria, as well as the Secretary-General of the Arab League and the Secretary-General of the OIC.
