Doha: Chairman of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) H E Mohamed bin Hammoud Shafi Al Shafi stressed that Qatar National Day represents a precious occasion to be proud of the achievements of the wise leadership.
He told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the state’s accomplishment in many avenues is a source of pride for Qatar as well as the Arab and Islamic Ummah. He added that the leaders of Qatar have deployed the country’s resources to ensure the dignity of citizens, and the safety of the nation.
Al Shafi congratulated Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Deputy Amir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, the wise government, and the Qatari people on the advent of Qatar National Day.
Al Shafi said that December 18 will remain an important date for the Qatari people as they recall the country’s past since its foundation by Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani on this historic day in the year 1878 AD, in which he succeeded his father, Sheikh Mohammed bin Thani, in leading the country to foundation and unity.
He said that it also represents a milestone to stand on and look forward to a promising future with our wise leadership that harnessed all the capabilities to continue the march of progress and prosperity throughout the country.
Al Shafi said that the Qatari citizen is the focus of developmental efforts since the founding of the State, as the citizens remain the main pillar of the State, and that the educated person is the bedrock on which the state can rely.
As a result, he added, the country’s wise leadership focused on education by ensuring the establishment of schools, universities, and different educational institutions in order to build and prepare the Qatari citizen, following the founders steps who established values and principles for the Qatari people.
Al Shafi said that Qatar National Day is an opportunity to seek inspiration from the thoughts of the founder of the state, adding that this acts as a driver for the CMC in its bid to cooperate with governmental and non-governmental bodies to implement the national development strategies. He noted that the completion rates of projects in all areas have reached unprecedented levels, in line with the vision of the wise leadership and the plans of the government.
He added that the CMC, whose members were elected to the sixth session, reflects the democracy enjoyed by the State of Qatar, and that the distinguished participation of male and female voters and candidates in this democratic event translates the sound approach taken by the wise leadership, in order to expand participation in decision-making, consolidating the democratic experiment to serve the nation and the citizen, and contribute to its development and elevation.
Al Shafi said that the CMC with all its members works considering the terms of reference set forth in the law, to present all the proposals and demands of the people, discuss them and issue appropriate recommendations regarding them and raise them to the concerned authorities.
He said that the recommendations received all cooperation, support and welcome from the concerned authorities, within the framework of improving the service of the country and the citizen.
Al Shafi stressed that the Central Municipal Council, through its members, works in the service of the loyal people of Qatar and everything that achieves the interest of the country and the citizen, in implementation of the directives and vision of H H the Amir.
