DOHA: Enterprise Qatar (EQ) is set to launch their latest initiative, ‘Oqood’, which offers 70 percent subsidised legal services to the entrepreneurs and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Qatar, said a statement yesterday.

‘Oqood’ is EQ’s second initiative, dedicated to small and medium-sized businesses, under the umbrella of ‘Istishara’ programme which previously launched the consultancy services ‘Jadwa’.

The ‘Oqood’ services target two main categories - entrepreneurs in the idea stage and SMEs. EQ will provide 70 percent subsidies to higher legal services, whereas the applicants will express their commitment by covering the remaining 30 percent. The programme will provide a range of legal services needed to start operations, which include the registration of intellectual property rights, trademarks, and writing contracts and agreements.

EQ’s CEO, Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, said: "Oqood will provide the legal framework for Qatari entrepreneurs and SMEs to reduce the risk associated with establishing their business. Assistance will be offered with regards to the protection of intellectual property rights to the project ideas and organising framework of internal work with employees and externally with various commercial and regulatory parties to ensure continuous growth and sustainability".

Applying to the ‘Oqood’ services requires few simple steps through an online application process on EQ’s website: www.eq.gov.qa, by calling 4012 5000 or via email: [email protected]
