Doha, Qatar: US President Donald Trump arrived in Qatar on Wednesday, his second stop on a three-day tour of the Gulf.

Trump arrives at al-Udeid military base, dances to ‘God Bless the USA’ 

Trump has now arrived at al-Udeid military base in Qatar.

The president stood on stage, shimmying and swaying to a song titled “God Bless the USA”, before he started his address.

He was flanked by rows of American troops behind him.

Trump: ‘Iran very lucky to have Qatar’s Amir fighting for them’

“Iran is very lucky to have Qatar’s emir,” said Trump, stated Al Jazeera. 

“He doesn’t want us to do a vicious blow to Iran. He’s [Qatar’s Amir] is fighting very much that we don’t [strike Iran]. Many people want us to go the other way round,” it added. Read more

Donald Trump on Syria 

The US president during his morning briefing from Doha, Qatar said:

Syria had “no chance with the sanctions”, Trump said. “They were very biting … Nobody could even deal with them.”
Damascus’ new president is “a strong guy”, the president said. “I thought he was good and let’s see what happens, but we’re going to give him a fighting chance.”
Both Turkiye and Saudi Arabia wanted the lift, and it’s “been very popular” regionally, Trump said. “So let’s see what happens, but it’s my honor to have done it.”

Trump says 'very serious negotiations' with Iran for peace

Al Jazeera reported that ahead of his departure at Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Trump says there are “very serious negotiations” taking place with Iran for long-term peace.

BREAKING: Al Jazeera: Trump thanks Amir for "everything"

According to Al Jazeera, US President HE Donald Trump conveyed his thanks to the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, saying: "I would like to thank you for everything, for your friendship, your leadership, and the wonderful work you are doing."

HE the US President also thanked HH the Amir for "helping us bring peace to several regions, such as Russia and Ukraine, and we will see progress in this file."

Trump thanks Amir for ‘beautiful friendship’

(3:20pm Doha time): Al Jazeera stated that the US president said he looks forward to working with Qatar “in the highest capacity” on peacebuilding efforts.

“I want to thank you for everything and particularly our friendship,” said Trump. “It’s been a very loyal, beautiful friendship.”

He also praised the warm reception and the setting of the Amiri Diwan.

(3:10pm Doha time): Al Jazeera stated that the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani delivered opening remarks at the Amiri Diwan, saying, he was "very excited' for the visit that could boost US-Qatari ties on all fronts – from investment to energy, to military cooperation.

“President Trump, I’ve known you for many years. I know that you are a man of peace,” said the Amir. “I know that you want to bring peace to this region … We hope that this time we can do the wise thing and bring peace.”

The Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani led well-wishers to welcome the US President His Excellency Donald Trump at the Amiri Diwan.

Trump’s first event in Doha is expected to be an arrival ceremony at the Amiri Diwan, reported Al Jazeera. 

Al Jazeera quoted officials stating that at the Amiri Diwan there will be bilateral meetings, adding that numerous US officials and business leaders will also be travelling to Doha.
