Doha: The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Joint Committee for Removing Abandoned Vehicles, has signed an agreement with Ebdaa Digital Technology, the owner of ‘Mzad Qatar’ app to sell abandoned vehicles, equipment and boats through online auction.
The agreement aims at setting up an electronic auction for the disposal and sale of abandoned cars, equipment and boats through ‘Mzad Qatar’ app by sharing details on its website/app to attract maximum number of buyers.
Chairman of Joint Committee for Removing Abandoned Vehicles, Major General Ali Salman Al Mohannadi said the agreement aims to diversify the process of disposal of abandoned vehicles through the participation of the private sector in the process of disposal of these vehicles and with a better financial return for the State.
He called on motorists to approach the authority concerned to claim their impounded vehicles because of abandoning within six months from the date of impounding.
Al Mohannadi said that the service to tow the abandoned car will be provided by filling out a form on the website of the Ministry of Municipality, and the competent authorities of the committee will send a team to tow the abandoned car free of cost to its owner, within the next 3 months.
Highlighting the achievements of the committee, he said, recently, under the agreements signed by the committee with other companies previously about 60,000 abandoned vehicles were disposed of generating approximately QR40m. Al Mohannadi said that the committee is seeking with this agreement to intensify the process of disposing of abandoned vehicles to completely eliminate the phenomenon of abandoned cars in the country.
Director of Al Rayyan Municipality and Vice-Chairman of the Committee Jaber Hassan Al Jaber said that this agreement is the first-of-its-kind to keep pace with the era of speed for electronic sales, and this experience will be evaluated after six months of the agreement.
Jaber Hassan Al Jaber added that one of the goals and plans of committee is to facilitate the procedures for disposing of abandoned vehicles and equipment in the proper manner, as this agreement was launched with Mzad Qatar in this context within the 2022 plan that the committee recently developed.
Executive Director of Mzad Qatar Fahad Abdullah Al Nuaimi thanked the Ministry of Municipality and the for cooperation with the private sector, based on the State’s directive to make partnership between the private sector and the government sector, which contributes to raising efficiency, developing the national economy and integrating technology in auctions.
He said Mzad Qatar app with over 1.5 million users, will contribute in raising the value of auctions by attracting large number of buyers using the latest marketing technologies. The agreement included a detailed mechanism for cooperation between the Department of Mechanical Equipment and Mzad Qatar regarding the sale of abandoned cars, equipment and boats through electronic auction.
The department will upload all abandoned vehicles that will be listed in the online auction to Mzad Qatar, including details, technical specifications and information about the vehicle such as its type, color, date of manufacture, chassis number and others.
The department will provide a location for inspecting the abandoned cars, equipment and boats offered for auction, and determines the hours available for inspecting the vehicles during the auction time and before the closing date, giving opportunity to participants of auction to verify condition of the vehicles.
