Sudanese diplomat hails Qatar’s role in global peace, security

Charge d’Affairs at the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan, Salwa Awad Bashir, congratulated the leadership, government and people of Qatar on the occasion of its National Day, wishing the Qatari people continued progress and prosperity and for their wise leadership good health and wellness to continue the path of progress.

She stressed that this glorious anniversary comes with the State of Qatar more advanced and prosperous in all economic and political fields. She valued the many achievements made by Qatar, including, the beginning of the elected Shura Council, the preparations for the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup, which the Sudanese team will participate in, as well as the remarkable and distinctive preparations, despite the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, to host the FIFA World Cup 2022, which the world is eagerly awaiting.

She also appreciated the clear efforts of the State of Qatar to achieve international security and stability and provide humanitarian aid, in addition to its appreciated efforts in Afghanistan and in the evacuations of Afghan citizens and other foreign nationals and journalists from there, stressing the growing role of the State of Qatar in all these arenas and pointing out that this influential role will continue and increase in the short, medium and long term as well.

In her statement, Salwa Awad Bashir praised the country’s continuous efforts to combat COVID-19 pandemic locally and internationally, affirming that the success of these efforts was positively reflected in all aspects of life within the country, which contributed to the recovery of the Qatari economy from the effects of the pandemic. In this regard, she added that it can be said that the Qatari economy has been able to recover thanks to the wise policies and determination that the State of Qatar has demonstrated in its various sectors, noting that Sudan is one of the countries that benefited greatly from Qatari initiatives and efforts in combating this pandemic.

She also emphasized the depth of existing relations between Qatar and her country, and their continuous efforts to develop them in various fields to serve the interests of the two peoples.

In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of the National Day of the State of Qatar, she said that the relations between Sudan and the State of Qatar witnessed a positive movement lately, which was reflected in high-profile mutual visits, the quest for the continuation of this development, and aspiration that the coming period will witness more positive developments, especially in the fields of investment, trade and agriculture. She noted that the two countries have signed cooperation agreements that need to be activated and carried forward to their ends.

She pointed out that the data indicate that the Sudanese-Qatari relations will witness further development and prosperity, and she praised, on a related note, the role of the State of Qatar in ensuring the Juba Agreement for Peace and the Darfur Peace, in addition to Doha’s efforts to remove Sudan from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
