Doha: Qatar rising star Abdullah Mohammed Al Tamimi says nothing will come easy for his much famed rival and World No. 3 James Willstrop when the two clash in the first round of the Qatar Classic tournament at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.

“I looking forward to the clash. I am determined to give my best. It will be a good learning experience. I have not met him (Willstrop) before. So that should be interesting,” said the 19-year-old, while speaking to The Peninsula.

Abdullah, a product of the state-of-the-art Aspire Academy, has been making rapid strides on the Professional Squash Association (PSA) events. This year he managed to register a few upsets win in the PSA events.

“I had set a target of breaking into the top 100 rank at the start of the year which I have achieved. I have beaten a few players ranked much higher to me in the hierarchy,” said the World No. 99.

Abdullah who is aiming to turn pro, however, is disappointed that he would not face his idol World No. 1 Ramy Ashour, after the Egyptian pulled out due to injury from the Qatar Classic.

“I wanted to play him, I was upset when I learnt about his decision (pullout).”
