Doha, Qatar: The Mohammad bin Hamad Al Mana Mosque Centre in Al Waab, affiliated with the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, organised a recreational and sports trip for its students to the facilities of Al Ahli Sports Club as part of the annual summer programme “Our Summer, Our Way 2026.”
The programme, organised by the Department of Da’wah and Religious Guidance, is hosting more than 1,000 students across 10 religious centres in different parts of Qatar. It aims to make productive use of the summer vacation through activities that combine Quran memorisation with religious and educational values, as well as intellectual, behavioural and physical development.
The initiative reflects the ministry’s efforts to provide balanced summer programmes that contribute to developing students’ personalities by combining beneficial learning, good morals, positive attitudes and recreational activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Mohammed Sameer, head of the Mohammad bin Hamad Al Mana Mosque Centre, said the centre is keen to provide a comprehensive educational programme that goes beyond traditional learning to address students’ spiritual, physical and psychological development.
He said integrating recreational and sports activities helps create an engaging and motivating environment where students can learn educational and ethical values through practical and enjoyable experiences.
The centre currently attracts more than 120 students, who are divided into seven educational groups, and supervised by qualified teachers and educators. This structure enables the centre to provide age-appropriate guidance and follow up on students’ educational and behavioural development throughout the summer programme.
Sheikh Mohammed also highlighted the centre’s efforts to strengthen communication with parents by keeping them informed about internal and external activities. This allows families to monitor their children’s development and supports greater cooperation between parents and the centre in caring for students.
During the trip, students took part enthusiastically in a range of sports and physical activities at the club’s pitches and indoor facilities. The activities included football, basketball and volleyball competitions, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and positive competition.
The sporting activities also helped reinforce important values such as teamwork, cooperation, discipline and mutual respect, while giving students an opportunity to interact and develop their physical skills in a safe and enjoyable environment.
