Doha: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs inaugurated Sheikh Hamad bin Sultan bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani Mosque in the Umm Al Amad area. Built over 2,267 square metres, the mosque can accommodate about 1,150 worshipers.
The inauguration was attended by Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs for Da'wah and Mosques Affairs HE Mohammed bin Hamad Al Kuwari, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad bin Sultan Al-Thani, and Director of Engineering Affairs Department at the Ministry Engineer Khaled Al Abdul Jabbar.
Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry explained that the mosque was demolished and rebuilt, within the framework of the Ministry's plan to expand and develop a number of mosques in all parts of the country and to keep pace with urban growth and population increase in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
The new mosque has a main prayer hall that can accommodate 650 worshipers, and a prayer hall on the mezzanine floor that can accommodate 450 worshipers, in addition to a women's hall that can accommodate 60 worshipers, and parking for 17 cars, with several parking lots designated to serve people with special needs.
