Doha, Qatar: Old Doha Port invites visitors to step into the heart of Doha’s past through a one-of-a-kind cultural experience that brings the spirit of the old farij neighborhoods to life.

Designed as a walk-through narrative of community, memory, and tradition, the journey reconnects guests with the places where families once gathered, children played, and generations shaped the social fabric of the city.

Spanning the period between the 1930s and 1950s, the experience traces the evolution of Doha’s earliest neighborhoods through detailed models that highlight the architectural styles and building techniques of the time.

Visitors see the shift from an era defined by pearl diving and fishing to the early days of oil discovery, which marked the beginning of Doha’s urban transformation and the foundations of the modern city.

Located within the scenic backdrop of Old Doha Port, the installation showcases how the city developed over the decades, from the changing landscapes of its markets and residential quarters to the formation of new landmarks, while preserving the authentic character, values, and traditions of its people.

It highlights the closeness of traditional homes, the role of mosques as spaces of gathering and learning, and the importance of historic markets as engines of daily life and guardians of Qatar’s cultural identity.

This immersive experience offers visitors a rich and engaging way to rediscover Doha’s roots, blending education with exploration and presenting the city’s early stories through an innovative and interactive format.

The journey concludes by inviting visitors to experience the story of Doha in a way they have never seen before, revived and reimagined at Old Doha Port.
