DOHA: A new initiative to reduce water consumption and create awareness was launched yesterday.
Together with Kahramaa’s Tarsheed — National conservation and energy efficiency programme — the Unilever launched the ‘Water Savers’ campaign at Carrefour, City Centre.
The campaign will be held for 15 days and educate people and shoppers on how to save water.
It urged them to make a conscious decision to buy environment-friendly water-saving products. “The partnership is a positive step towards promoting a conservation culture among the public.
“It will also help both partners, which will improve our capability in addressing environmental challenges,” said Engineer Abdulla Majed Al Khulaif, Head of Conservation Technology at Kahramaa’s Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department.
As part of the campaign, less water consuming Unilever products will be sold at Carrefour. The in-store awareness campaign offers 20 shoppers the opportunity to get their October Kahramaa bill paid.
“By partnering up with different companies and government entities such as Kahramaa, we aim to educate consumers and change their behaviour for a long run,” said Arjit Ghose, Managing Director, Arabian Gulf, Unilever Gulf FZE. Over the past two years, Unilever has educated 3.9 million consumers across the Gulf at different places through ‘Water Savers’ campaign.
