Doha: The Ministry of Labour (MoL) received about 7,450 requests for new recruitment, of which 5,551 were approved and 1,899 were rejected in March. The total number of requests to modify the profession during the month was about 3,583, of which 3,555 were approved and 28 were rejected
The Ministry yesterday issued the statistical bulletin of March 2023, comprising the noteworthy figures and statistics concerning the labour sector in the nation, along with the outcomes of the visits made for inspection purposes to different organisations that are operating under the Labour Law regulations.
According to the bulletin, the number of work permit applications submitted to the Ministry during March amounted to about 1,057 applications, including 519 applications for permit renewal, 381 applications for issuing a new permit, 156 applications for cancelling issued permits, and one request for replacement of lost ones.
In terms of inspection visits to Labour recruitment offices, the statistical bulletin showed that the ministry carried out about 257 inspection visits to recruitment offices, with 228 visits in which no observations were recorded, and issued 23 warnings to remove a violation and banned 6 offices.
During March, the Labour Inspection Department carried out intensive inspection campaigns to monitor the extent to which establishments comply with the laws and ministerial decisions concerned with regulating the Labour market in the country, with a total number of inspection visits of 4,175 visits in various regions, and as a consequence, 114 violations were recorded, and 759 warnings were issued.
With regard to Labour complaints, the statistical bulletin reflected that the Labour Relations Department received complaints from the establishment’s workers against the establishment with about 2,097 complaints, of which 521 complaints were settled, 234 of them were referred to the Labour dispute settlement committees, and about 1,342 complaints remained under procedure.
The Labour Relations Department received 68 complaints from the public and settled all of them.
According to the monthly statistical bulletin regarding the Labour dispute settlement committees, the number of cases referred to the dispute settlement committees during the past month amounted to about 1,052 cases, and the total number of decisions issued by the Labour dispute settlement committees reached about 623 decisions.
The total number of decisions still under procedure reached about 941 decisions.
