Doha: The Ministry of Culture and Sports has launched its first election for the positions of President and Vice President of the Qatar Theatrical Group.
The election is aimed at enhancing a culture of participation, improving institutional performance, empowering youth, and engaging young people to contribute to the development of cultural movement.
The election is a by-product of the Ministry’s previous successes in empowering young people to manage youth centres and sports clubs.
The Ministry works to activate the role of youth and involve them through turning them into an essential element who play an important role in the country’s development, progress, and prosperity.
The Qatar Theatrical Group is scheduled to enter the new organisational phase after the General Assembly meeting to be held at the beginning of the fourth week of this month.
The next step will contribute to developing the theatrical movement to serve artistes and those interested in theatre.
Meanwhile, artiste Hamad Abdel Reda, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Theatrical Group, said, “We aim to regulate theatrical practice in Qatar and enhance transparency within theatrical groups. We have opened registration again for membership, and the process has seen the enrollment of new members, in addition to more than 150 existing members.”
Reda also called on all members to actively participate in the General Assembly, for fairness in line with the mission of the Ministry of Culture and Sports to enable the working bodies to perform their tasks and coordinate among themselves.
For his part, Nasser Abdel Reda, Head of the Cultural and Artistic Committee of Qatar Theatrical Group, said, “Such new regulations will contribute to organising the theatrical movement in Qatar, and promote democratic practice within the cultural and artistic affairs, through election and voting.”
He also praised the success of elections in sports clubs, helping them manage participation, which also applies to the cultural and artistic movement due to its importance in society in ensuring young people’s rights.
In addition, the election also aims to have the right minds to manage artistic and theatrical affairs as per Qatar National Vision 2030.
