Cairo: Minister of Culture H E Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Thani participated in the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum on Saturday.

His Excellency was representing Qatar in this exceptional event marking a pivotal milestone in the history of culture and human civilization.

The opening of this museum stands as one of the foremost cultural events globally, with the ceremony witnessing the participation of 79 official delegations, including leaders, heads of governments, and ministers from various countries, alongside officials from regional and international organizations.

It reflects the global community’s profound interest in Egypt’s ancient civilization and the singular cultural and humanitarian role undertaken by the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The museum spans approximately 490,000 square meters and overlooks the Giza Pyramids, with the Grand Staircase standing out as one of its most prominent features, flanked by statues of Egyptian kings reaching a height of six stories. It houses over 100,000 artefacts, including the complete collection of King Tutankhamun, displayed for the first time in a single location, alongside thousands of other pieces that chronicle Egypt’s history across the ages.

In addition, the museum includes a world-class restoration centre, state-of-the-art exhibition halls, and a children’s museum, in addition to service and recreational facilities that provide visitors with a comprehensive and exceptional experience.
