DOHA: The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has launched a website to create awareness about early detection of breast and bowel cancer.
The portal is accessible on www.screenforlife.qa for the people seeking information on the diseases.
Details are also available on how to take an appointment for early detection tests, contact numbers and locations of the centre conducting screenings, said Dr Maryam Abdul Malek, Director-General, PHCC.
Causes of cancer and procedures of medical tests are also available on the website, she added.
The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) have advised women aged 45 to opt for early detection tests for breast cancer every three years.
However, men and women aged 50 and above should undergo early detection tests for bowel cancer, said the SCH.
No matter what your age, you should call the PHCC screening centre if you are considered at risk due to family history, a prior malignant or pre-malignant occurrence of bowel cancer or polyps, or a genetic predisposition, said a recommendation posted on the website.
Cancer screening is one of the most important steps you can take for your health — to secure peace of mind for you and your family.
PHCC is partnering with the National Cancer Programme to bring bowel and breast cancer screenings to communities across Qatar.
