Aden: Sniping and Shelling by the militias of Houthi and ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh on residential neighborhoods in the center of the Yemeni city of Taiz had killed 131 civilians and injured 320 others during the month of May.
The Humanitarian Relief Coalition in Taiz Governorate said in a report Saturday that the number of children killed reached 21, while 28 others were injured. Two women were also killed and 11 others were wounded, of whom 8 were disabled after losing parts of their bodies.
The shelling carried out by the militias with heavy weapons led to the destruction of 31 houses, facilities and private and public properties, according to the report.
The Coalition also reported that 736 families were displaced or forcibly displaced from their homes by the militias and did not receive adequate emergency shelter aid as most donor organizations stopped sending humanitarian aid to Taiz.
The Coalition called on all humanitarian organizations to shoulder their moral and humanitarian responsibilities towards the suffering of the people in Taiz and to send relief aid to the affected and displaced people through the southwestern port of the city, which is currently the only safe passage.
