Undersecretary of Education Ministry visits Ta’allum’s AMAB

Doha: Al Maha Academy for Boys (AMAB) has received a positive visit from Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim  Al Nuaimi. 

Dr. Al Nuaimi was accompanied by Omar Al Nama, Assistant Undersecretary for Private Schools Affairs; Hamad Al Ghali, Director of the Private Schools Licensing Department; Rashid Al Amri, Director of Private School Affairs along with members of the wider Ministry deputation. 

Dr. Al Naimi and his team were welcomed by Dr. Mohammed Saefan, Ta’allum’s Director of Education and Shuja Uddin, Principal of the Academy. 

They were joined by members of the Academy’s wider Leadership team, Osman Abdullah, Head of Secondary; Michael Myford, Head of Primary and Nicola Brown, Head of Early Years. Catherine Precious, Ta’allum’s Primary School Consultant and Peter Kubicki, Secondary School Consultant were also in attendance. 

The visit took place during the Ta’allum examination period and was designed primarily to observe, first- hand, the effectiveness of the Academy’s operational strategies in meeting the challenges arising from the pandemic. A key focus was whether End of Year examinations are being conducted in line with Ministry instructions and with all due safety precautions.

The very high 97% student attendance for the exams, underlines the commitment of students and parents to Ta’allum assessment and their confidence in the Academy’s safety measures. 

After a tour of the Academy classrooms where exams were taking place, Dr. Nuaimi was keen to learn more about other developments. 

Of particular interest was Ta’allum’s distinctive combination of written and tablet-based exams. The Academy’s ‘Transition plans’ to enable all students to progress successfully to the next year of their education were also considered, along with Ta’allum Academies’ proactive and targeted intervention strategies to bridge any gaps in students’ learning. 

The feedback to the school was extremely positive. Dr. Al Nuaimi was impressed and said simply and encouragingly, “I am proud of your school.” 

Omar Al Nama expressed his satisfaction that all necessary protocols were in place and the school’s procedures are both fit for purpose and rigorously followed. He declared; “I am happy with the measures the school has taken to ensure that students are safe during the exams.” 

Dr. Mohammed Saefan said: “At Ta’allum, keeping students safe is our core priority. We always work cooperatively with the Ministry, sharing our best practice. This respected accolade is very important to us.”Ahmed Al Mannai, Ta’allum’s CEO said, “The positive feedback on the rigour of our safety arrangements will provide further reassurance for our school communities.”
