Vice-Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation (QF), H E Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani said that the National Day represents an opportunity to celebrate societal and cultural values, strengthen solidarity among community members to enable them to make the desired positive impact on all levels, especially in the midst of the unprecedented challenges that the world is witnessing today.
Her Excellency told QNA in remarks made on the occasion of the national day that it was an important occasion to highlight the role Qatar Foundation is playing in supporting the country’s development efforts. She expressed her pride at the progress the country is making in all fields, which Qatar Foundation contributes to by advancing human, social, and economic development.
She extended her congratulations to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Qatari people on the advent of the national day. She said that over two decades, Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and H H Chairman of QF Sheikha Moza shared a vision on the future of development in Qatar, which yielded Qatar Foundation. She added that QF, since its establishment, was one of the most important anchors of Qatar’s development efforts in all fields. That is due to its research status as well as its educational and academic programs.
She noted that this year imposed unprecedented challenges on Qatar Foundation and the rest of society due to coronavirus pandemic. She noted that QF however proved once again its resilience in dealing with crises and responded quickly to these extraordinary conditions.
She highlighted that Qatar Foundation, Hamad Medical Corporation, and the Italian embassy in Qatar cooperated to try and discover new ways for treatment from COVID-19 by using plasma of recovered patients. Sidra also developed an innovative way to test for the virus, and avoid the global shortage of traditional testing equipment back in April of this year.
She noted that Qatar foundation played its part in monitoring COVID-19 developments and placed comprehensive plans for the return to activities that were in line with the measures adopted by the state. Qatar Foundation also exempted renters and small and medium enterprises it deals with from rent for six months, as part of its commitment to economic development.
