Doha: National Day is a great occasion that reminds us of the sacrifices made by the founding fathers for building this great nation, said Prof. Mariam Al Maadeed, Vice-President for Research and Graduate Studies, Qatar University.
It is an occasion in which we renew the pledge of loyalty to the homeland and the wise leadership, and it is the day we reaffirm our commitment to work for building an advanced nation where the people could enjoy peace and prosperity, she told The Peninsula.
The development of scientific research is one of the most important goals of countries and societies that aspire to develop their knowledge and scientific structure in order to achieve prosperity and development in all areas of life. As one of the key areas of nation building, scientific research remain a unique tool for exploring our complex, ever-evolving world.
Therefore, QU pays great attention to scientific researches and strives to make the State of Qatar to be a hub for research and discoveries and take leading roles in development in science, medicine, environment, humanities, technology and other fields.
Today, our country has the latest infrastructures and competencies to conduct research, accurately analyze data, and arrive at findings,discoveries, and innovation. On the occasion of the National Day I would like to express my gratitude to our beloved country for all the support and provision of capabilities in the country and provide opportunity for our students to learn, participate and gain scientific experiences. I congratulate all residents of Qatar on the occasion of the National Day.
