Doha: Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Brazil to the State of Qatar H E Luis Alberto has praised the State of Qatar’s vision in building a modern state according to a future vision based on sustainable development and investment in science and technology.
In a statement on the occasion of Qatar National Day, Ambassador Alberto praised Qatar’s foreign policy and said that the State is actively participating in its relations with countries from all over the world and devotes its efforts to mediation activities and assistance to those affected by conflicts in the region and elsewhere. Qatar contributes to promoting peace and development in the world, as well as cooperating in many multilateral initiatives, such as co-chairing negotiations on reform of the UN Security Council, passing funding programmes, and hosting UN offices in Doha, he said. The ambassador congratulated Qatar on the occasion of National Day, noting that it is an occasion to emphasise the distinction of relations between Brazil and Qatar.

He stressed that Qatar-Brazil relations go beyond trade and politics and are based on true friendship between the two countries and peoples. He pointed out that Brazilians are coming to Qatar in increasing numbers, while thousands of Brazilians look forward to coming to Qatar for the FIFA 2022 World Cup where they will receive the warm welcome and generosity of the Qatari people.
He expressed his appreciation of the urgent medical assistance provided by Qatar to dozens of developing countries since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, as well as its ability to successfully respond to the pandemic at the local level, as it quickly established a testing, tracking and prevention system that helped limit spread of the pandemic. He pointed out that Qatar is among the countries that conduct the highest per capita COVID-19 test rate in the world, and significant decrease in number of daily cases and active cases is evidence of success of Qatar’s strategy in combating the pandemic.
The Ambassador pointed out that Qatar and Brazil have taken a very important step to limit the COVID-19 pandemic by dealing with leading pharmaceutical companies in order to ensure access to an effective vaccine for all their residents.
