Doha: Ambassador of the Republic of Greece to the State of Qatar H E Heleni Michalopoulou said that based on shared values of respect for international law and national sovereignty, the State of Qatar and Greece are working to further strengthen and deepen bilateral relations in many fields of common interest.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of the National Day, the Ambassador said that Qatar’s commitment to the pursuit of universal values with a focus on education, health and culture constitutes significant contribution to the efforts of the international community to serve growing and pressing needs that emerge on a global scale.

She pointed out that the State of Qatar is considered today in diplomacy, a country that is open to the world and defends basic international principles, dialogue and pluralism, and that it plays the role of mediator to resolve international disputes.
Regarding COVID-19 pandemic, the Ambassador said that Qatar’s performance in addressing the pandemic is remarkable, as effective control of the spread of the virus has been ensured through the implementation of adjusted measures, which are complied with in a spirit of individual and community responsibility. Qatar’s generous assistance in medical equipment to a large number of recipient countries and organisations constitutes an exemplary and commendable gesture of solidarity, she added.
The Greek Ambassador congratulated Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, as well as the people of Qatar on the occasion of the anniversary of the National Day of the country.
She congratulated the State of Qatar also for the impressive dynamics of growth in all fields of public and private activity, pointing out that Qatar has managed to set a paradigm for progress not only in the region but at the international level as well.
The Ambassador also wished the people of Qatar continuous peace and prosperity under the prudent leadership of H H the Amir.
