Pushing Qatarisation forward

Since the launch of the national employment platform (Kawader), Qataris have been able to easily apply and get jobs in both private and public sectors, bringing to life one of the main pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV), human development, particularly a knowledgeable and vibrant national cadre.

The Kawader platform was launched as a flexible and easy way to enable job seekers to find opportunities that match their qualifications and experiences in the government and private sectors. It also links job nominations with the authorities directly to conduct personal interviews, without the need for the Ministry to intervene in selecting the appropriate job and the entity.

Also, introducing a new security system that extends to the private sector may make the private sector more attractive, in line with the Qatarisation initiative to ensure that 50% of the workforce is made up of Qatari nationals by 2030.

As Qatar promotes avenues for the national cadre to be gainfully employed, these measures have borne great results because earlier this year, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announced that the number of Qatari employees in the authority has more than doubled over the past four years with an increase of 135%. Qatari engineers have also increased up to 163%.

In January this year, the Ministry of Labour revealed that it had offered 444 jobs in 48 private sector companies in various disciplines. The Ministry of Labor and Qatar Airways recently announced job opportunities for Qatari jobseekers and sons of Qatari women who hold a bachelor’s degree.

The Ministry stated that it is developing plans and policies, consulting with private sector institutions, increasing the percentage of Qatarization of jobs through the qualification and training of nationals, and studying the relevant legislative options.

Also, data from the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau indicated that 942 job seekers got recruited into various government, joint and private sector agencies in the country through Kawader during the last quarter of 2021 and March 2022.

Yesterday during its session, the Shura Council reviewed the report of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee related to Qatari job seekers and the identification of the country’s needs for the specialisations needed by the labour market and human resource development.  According to a Qatar News Agency report, the Council’s discussions were characterised by a commitment to developing effective and realistic solutions and a practical vision, all tailored to the QNV.
