As the State of Qatar and the United States are preparing to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between them in 1972, Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani begun yesterday his working visit to the US.
Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations, bilateral cooperations have increased and strengthened because it was built on solid ground and clear vision, trust, mutual respect, and common benefits. Therefore, throughout the past decades, the relations were witnessing continuous development in various fields to serve the interests of the two countries, the region, and global and regional peace and stability.
H H the Amir will meet President H E Joe Biden at the White House to discuss aspects of developing the existing strategic cooperation between the two countries in various fields and exchange views on regional issues and the most prominent international developments.
The State of Qatar is keen to further enhance its strategic cooperation with the US in different fields of economic, political, and military relations with the US, and this necessitates continuous consultation between the two leaderships and the two countries.
The two countries have established a solid base for working to achieve common goals and interests and contribute to achieving regional stability, security, and global peace, in a clear indication of the distinguished role played by the State of Qatar under the leadership of H H the Amir on the international scene.
In order to consolidate bilateral partnership, Qatar and US have established Strategic Dialogue, of which four rounds have been held in the capitals of the two countries annually. The dialogue is another milestone in the strong historical partnership of the two countries and their and cooperation as partners in defence, security, investments, education, energy, and combating terrorism.
Qatar’s regional and international role in peace making and restoring stabilities in many countries of the world, through mediation to resolve disputes, has become indispensable for the US strategy in the MENA region. A good example of this is the role played by the State of Qatar in ending the Afghan crisis.
No doubt that the Amir’s visit to US and discussions that will take place with President Biden and other senior officials will further strengthen the strategic partnership and serve the common goals and interests of the two countries. As well the visit constitutes an opportunity to lift the partnership to new height and its results will serve the interests of the two nations for the coming decades.
